Found this awesome guide on how to configure a network bridge between your PC & 360. Credit to BimmerGeek for the following detailed information.
As I wrote the other day, I figured out a way to use my laptop as a wireless “adapter” for the XBox 360. The advantage of this is that allows me to wirelessly connect the XBox 360 to the net without paying $99 for the Microsoft wireless adapter. I thought some people might be interested in the details because I noticed on my blog metrics that two people hit the previous article with a Google search. All I did in the previous post was to say I did it. This post describes how I did it.
I chose a bridge over Internet Connection Sharing because the bridge’s use is specific to connecting different types of network adapters together; and because we have a wireless network already, so there is no functional need for the ICS solution. Plus, I’ve never used a bridged connection before, so it gave me something to learn.
Here’s what you do:
Step 1
Select Control Panel/Network Connections and while hovering over Network Connections, right click and choose Open. This will open a panel that should list your network connections.
This image shows all my existing network connections. Yours may not have the same adapters. The two adapters that matter are your wireless adapter and your Ethernet adapter. They will have different names than mine because I have renamed them from their default values. I have highlighted the two adapters in the graphic below.
Step 2
If you have both Ethernet and wireless adapters (and you must in order for this to work), then both of them will be listed in the Network Connections panel. Using the ctrl-click selection method or the drag-area method, select both adapters.
Step 3
Right-click one of the adapters and select the Bridge Connections option.
Step 4
You will see a notification that the bridge is being built. This may take a few moments.
Step 5
Once the bridge is complete, you will see the bridge icon and the network adapters as shown below:
Step 6
The bridge is only partially complete at this point. To complete the configuration, you need to relate the network adapters to the bridge. I’m not exactly sure why this is because you have to select the adapters to create the bridge in the first place. This is my first bridge, so it’s possible there is a better way of doing it. But this process has worked for me. If you know of a more concise way of configuring the bridge, let me know and I’ll update the process.
In any case, select the bridge, right-click and select Properties:
Step 7
In the Properties dialog, put check marks in the network adapters that you want to bridge. Make sure you select the wireless and Ethernet adapters.
Step 8
Now, the bridge is complete. It will take a few moments for your laptop to finish the configuration, get a new DHCP lease and complete the connections.
To verify if your bridge works, connect the XBox 360 to your laptop’s Ethernet port and connect with XBox Live.

Lol, guys turn off your firewall.
That’s the MAJOR PROBLEM.
Then connect the xbox to laptop with the bridge :)
Once again we have a Windows/Mac competition. I am running both Windows XP and OSX Leopard on my Mac (it was given to me by my college, dont hurt me) I found ways that this should work for both, so I will see which works better, if either of them work at all…
im really having trouble with this. It keeps saying identifying and the xbox wont pick it. please email me at rammsteinisawesome@hotmail.com please anyone to help me. it looks like no one is replying to this site anymore
I’ve done this and once I plug the XBOX to the laptop ethenet port I have a IP conflict is there a way to resolve this?
Does someone know when I am alive for Xbox360 will be released?
I’ve tried everything but this doesn’t seem to work for me. When I bridge the connections, for some reason my internet wont work on the laptop. I connect my ps3 to the laptop and it doesn’t work. Now today I did this on my friends pc and it worked. But for some reason it dont work for me. I wonder what I’m doing wrong…
Tried this and xbox nat is open!!! thanks a lot
[...] is very well explained here. I have nothing more to add to it. If you have any questions or concerns you can ask me here. [...]
I am having the same problem as Wade and Scott except on Windows XP. My connection drops very very often and when I go into my PC it says that the Wireless OR LAN connection has been dropped (has the red X). The way I get it to start working again is by simply right clicking on the whichever connection has the red X and going to properties and when the properties window comes up I just hit OK (or cancel or whatever) and the status will go back to “connected.”
Also, I have noticed that even thought the wireless connection SHOULD auto connect to my wifi, it wont!
ARGH! This was such a good solution to the “moderate” security problem. Why can’t this stuff just work like it’s supposed to!
Yes I use Vista on my Gateway notebook and it often drops. I notice that both the LAN and bridge are constantly saying “identifying”…god I am so fed up.
Have you noticed any drops? I’m using a vista wireless, and my connection often drops. I’m going to redo my bridge to see if that corrects the problem, just wondering if others had the same problem.
Thanks wow i was using ICS an it started out open an then the next time i turned on the xbox it was moderate then the 3rd timeit was strict this fixed that prob.. :)
