Jack Thompson disbarred by Florida Supreme Court

Submitted by aDub on September 28, 2008 – 4:47 pm – 597 viewsNo Comment

This past Thursday Jack Thompson was disbarred by the Florida Supreme Court for inappropriate conduct,   effective October 25, 2008.   Florida Judge Dava Tunis said Jack Thompson had “abused the legal system by submitting numerous, frivolous and inappropriate filings”.

To be disbarred is considered a great embarrassment and shame, even if one no longer wishes to pursue a career in the law.   The judge also noted that Thompson had shown no remorse for his actions and had refused to cooperate with the disbarment hearing. Tunis concluded that the probability of rehabilitation was small.

In addition to this disbarment, Thompson is required to pay the court $43,675.35 as a recovery for the court’s time and expense.
