I recently downloaded the demo of Dark Void available in the Xbox Marketplace, earlier today I finally got around to checking it out. The story is pure sci-fi - you play as a pilot who crashes a plane somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle that finds you trapped in "The Void", described as a sinister parallel world of hostile aliens, powerful weapons and deep mystery. Developer Airtight Games pre... more. -
No Color, Just Human

Dealing with race relations has been a touchy subject in America for a very long time, and has no signs of becoming a non-issue anytime soon. Anywhere you look now you will see the remnants of ancient prejudices and outdated ideologies. I know that many ideas or programs in use today are based on race or ethnicity are supposed to help a large number of our population. I know that Black History Mon... more. -

Alone in the Dark
0 CommentsPosted by aDub on August 14, 2008 under Opinion, Xbox 360
I recently picked up a copy of Alone in the Dark and to my surprise I have found it quite entertaining. Before it's release in June I actually had anticipated the game since I really enjoyed Eden Games last title (Test Drive: Unlimited). Of course my expectation for the game diminished greatly after reading the mostly mediocre and negative reviews that rolled in. If you were like me you may hav... more.

Nintendo, hey Nintendo! It's me. GlossGreen. Remember me? We used to play together as kids. Remember the time we used to play Zelda? No? How about Metroid? You don't remember that either? I know, it was a long time ago, but you seem different these days. It seems like you're trying to be someone else these days. What happened to you? I remember first meeting you way back in grade school. You were ... more.

When the Wii first hit shelves in November of 2006, everyone was excited about the door of motion control that had just been opened. According to the commercials we saw leading up to that holiday season, the possibilities seemed endless. Now, we're a year and half in and it seems that aside from Nintendo, developers seemed to have been more interested in wedging in motion-controlled moments to ... more.

What’s Up Nintendo’s Sleeve?
1 CommentsPosted by GlossGreen on March 20, 2008 under Commentary, Nintendo
One thing I have to say about Nintendo, they really know how to get their fans into a frenzy. Earlier this week Nintendo's president and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime made some coy statements about what's planned for E3 this year. In an interview on Game Trailers TV, Reggie says: "There's gonna be a big game for the holiday that the gamers will want. All I can tell you is what we announce during E3 is ... more.

Last month I gave my thoughts on the upcoming year for all the consoles. I thought the PS3 and 360 could have a strong year. I also wrote that I thought the Wii was on shaky ground. Now we are hearing news and speculation from some of the other media outlets. Was I on the right track? Will the PS3 make a comeback? Can the Wii maintain it's momentum? Let's see what the experts are saying. Fi... more.

A lot of people sure hate GameStop
2 CommentsPosted by aDub on November 10, 2007 under Commentary, Culture, Industry, Society
A lot of people sure hate GameStop. The Grapevine-based video-game retailer is probably the best-known buyer and seller of used games, and that side of the company's business has angered a lot of people. Gamers, for one, are ticked that the company generally offers just a couple of bucks to repurchase games that originally sold for $50 or $60. The other factions peeved at GameStop right ... more.

We need episodic video games that rival ABC’s Lost
2 CommentsPosted by aDub on June 2, 2007 under Commentary, Console, Culture
What will it take for episodic video games to catch on? I think the success ABC has experienced with Lost and it's 60-70 episodes over the past 3 seasons (currently Lost is ranked 2 of 16,626 over at tv.com) is no doubt related to the shows content. I think that when episodic video games can deliver a smart well told story with intense gameplay set in an a realistic environment, this type ... more.

The rise and fall of Sega

We take a look into the past of Sega and where they went wrong in the console wars. Tecmo Bowl sucks, I got Joe Montana. You're still playing Mario, Dude! Ask your Mom if you can come over. I'll let you play on a real video game system. My Genesis has 16-bit graphics, what's yours again? 8-bit, that's funny. Oh the good old days of harassing Nintendo players. Being the first kid to own a Sega G... more.
