Call of Duty 4: NPD reports over 9 million copies sold and breaks DLC records

According to the NPD figures which were released today, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has officially sold over 9 Million copies worldwide since it’s release!

In addition, the Variety Map Pack we recently released on Xbox Live and soon to be released on PS3 in a week; has broke Xbox Live Marketplace records pulling down over 1 Million downloads within it’s first 9 days. Not to mention pulling down Xbox Live Marketplace in the process when it launched.

Some cool numbers we pulled recently to see just how much gameplay that actually is, shows that Xbox LIVE members played more than 30 million sessions and logged over 30 million hours of gameplay!! We’re talking 1.9 billion minutes logged in the first 9 days!!

Nintendo DS becomes American obsession

It prints money!With more than 10 million Nintendo DS systems sold in the Americas, the handheld game console is the fasted selling game system in the world.

Swallow this amazing fact if you can: there are close to nine Nintendo DS or DS Lite portable game systems sold every 60 seconds. Sure, this number may seem small when compared to other addicting products like cigarettes, alcohol, video poker, or Paris Hilton, but this is a gaming system we are talking about.

“More than 5 million people joined the ranks as Nintendo DS owners in America last year alone,” says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “And right now, they’re all saying the same thing — ‘give me more!’ Fortunately, no matter your taste or experience in gaming, that’s exactly what we’re supplying in the months to come.”

Nintendo has kept manufacturing yields high in order to meet demand for the popular handheld, and on average has been launching 5-7 news games each month to help keep gamers interested.
