EA officially announced Mercs Inc a multiplayer version of Mercenaries in the early stages of development at EALA along with two dozen or so of the Pandemic team that weren’t let go when the studio’s doors were closed just days ago. Watch the leaked video below of the preproduction game in action.

According to the EA press release:

“We are very excited to announce a new instalment in the popular Mercenaries series because it demonstrates our continued commitment to Pandemic’s rich catalogue of intellectual properties,” said Nick Earl, Senior VP and Group General Manager at EA. “From the studio at EALA, a core creative team is forging new ground and conceptualizing new ideas for this exciting franchise.”

Note to developers: Don’t release an ‘early build’ video that looks worse than your last game. I personally really liked Mercs 2, but this has me less than excited. Well, that and the staff if 200 people lighter than for the last game.
