Fox News vs Mass Effect

Submitted by aDub on January 29, 2008 – 1:33 am – 1,253 viewsOne Comment

In case you missed the Fox News debacle of a report on Bioware’s latest “SE”XBOX title Mass Effect here is the original airing. In the first two minutes the anchor says that Mass Effect has full nudity and sex and a psychologist “expert” talks about how statistics show that games are played by young boys and that Mass Effect is all about objectifying women.

Loading.Ready.Run made this really funny parody of the recent fiasco – check it out.

Good stuff.

OK, it’s official. Mainstream media outlets have absolutely no idea what they are talking about when videogames are brought into a discussion. Out of the 7 people involved in that news report only 1 knew what they were talking about. I would be embarrassed to talk about something I had no knowledge on, but not these ignorant people. To report about the game after only viewing a couple of videos as part of the prep for the story is just plain irresponsible journalism. The panel of “experts” they had was a joke, too. If even one of them had played the game the discussion probably would have gone differently. Please people, stop reporting on videogames until you have actually played one.
