The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has some gamers quite angry with its lack of features that were available in the previous Modern Warfare. COD4 featured 64 players on dedicated servers compared with the 18 players via peer to peer (via IWNet) with upcoming Modern Warfare 2, has angered over 180,000 PC gamers who have signed a petition demanding Infinity Ward include a dedicated server option for the PC version.

Controversial Airport Scene Confirmed Skippable Content

Some footage has been leaked of Modern Warfare 2 which has already stirred up controversy. The scene lets you play as a terrorist as you enter a crowded airport and open fire on innocent civillians. It is being called tasteless by some, and downright discraceful by others. Activision says the scene will not be removed, stating that the it is in there to show the aweful nature of the terrorist, and not to glorify them.

“Yes [it is real]. The scene establishes the depth of evil and the cold bloodedness of a rogue Russian villain and his unit. By establishing that evil, it adds to the urgency of the player’s mission to stop them.

Players have the option of skipping over the scene. At the beginning of the game, there are two ‘checkpoints’ where the player is advised that some people may find an upcoming segment disturbing. These checkpoints can’t be disabled.

Modern Warfare 2 is a fantasy action game designed for intense, realistic game play that mirrors real life conflicts, much like epic, action movies. It is appropriately rated 18 for violent scenes, which means it is intended for those who are 18 and older.”

Robert Bowling gives us an early look at the three editions of Infinity Ward’s much anticipated follow up to Modern Warfare that will be available in stores November 11th. The standard version of the game will run you around $60, the “Hardened Edition” in a steel case that will cost $80, while the premium “Prestige Edition” costs $150 and brings you the steel case, art book, “fully functioning” night vision goggles with a Soap McTavish sculpted head for your NVG to rest on, of course. There will also be a “token” to download the XBL/PSN version of the original Call of Duty that will soon be available for download for each respective console. Infinity Ward have already teased that they are working on a follow up to their smash hit Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare but this time is for real. Activision announced today that the developer is hard at work on Modern Warfare 2 (notice the lack of CoD in this title) for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

The new title even has a release date of November 10 of this very year. Let the anticipation begin!
